Crystal Plumage was also the first movie directed by Dario Argento, which launched his career as a prominent italian horror filmmaker. In his directorial debut we can see elements of his style that become seminal to his work in the future, including the use of bright colors to accentuate violence, the creepy soundtrack, and the uniquely unsettling cinematography.
