Lead Belly King of the Twelve String Long Sleeve
A legendary blues musician and songster, northern Louisiana’s Lead Belly got his start in his teens and twenties playing in bars. We may never have known who he was if it hadn’t been for the Library of Congress field recordings done by John Lomax- Who first recorded Lead Belly while he was incarcerated, exposing him to the rest of the country. While the relationship between Lomax and Ledbetter eventually soured, Lead Belly continued working with his son Alex. After years of recordings, live performances, and tours, Lead Belly was still struggling to be recognized for the talent that he was. Sadly, it was only one year after his death that his songs started becoming widely covered by popular musicians, finally giving him his long overdue credit.
